I'm not dead!!!
I know I've said that before, but damnit I mean it this time! The computer I'm running on is extremely reliable and I didn't put it together so the odds of it are very slim of it blowing up in my face. Awesome. I will go into details hopefully tomorrow the 29th as to what the hell happened since March.....or hell since last March when I went poof. There's a lot of shit I gotta sort out at work first but rest assured it'll be the one post of The Jedi Guy's journal you won't want to miss! Best webcomic ever....
I know I've been gone for a long ass time, take a wild guess. Yeah, it's been the store. I'll give you the short version: I got transfered to Leesburg, the store was broken, I've been steadily fixing it, yes it's taking up that much of my time. Anyway, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, Leesburg is now getting the recognition it deserves, and I'm getting major kudos for it. I swear on my first born's life (whenever that happens) that will provide all the gory details on what went down since my last post, and all the crazy shit since then.....anyway back to the subject. I normally don't visit any webcomics outside of Penny Arcade, VG Cats, Ctrl+Alt+Del or Red vs Blue, but these guys at The Dueling Analogs won the webcomic of the week at Joystiq.com and I checked them out. I really didn't care for the rest of this stuff but this one hit it home. When you take a wildly popular kink such as this, and combine the Xbox 360 achievment system...well gosh darnit you really can't ask for more can you? Who's got that achievement unlocked? http://duelinganalogs.com/?date=2007-03-21 Current Mood: amusedCurrent Music: none | | Friday, November 24th, 2006 | | 3:22 am |
It's entirely too early for this...
I am up at the ungodly hour to prepare for quite possibly the busiest day the store will ever see this whole year. Black Friday. I am awake this goddamn early because I know I've forgotten something and I want to correct it before the people show up and go goddamn crazy. PSG will be there as well, and Paul rolls in at 7am, but geezus christo, it's entirely too early for this shit. Tired of Sony's BS artifical facts? Read on
For some ungodly reason I can't fall asleep and I decided to go through my bookmarks for the hojillionth time and I came across this. If you're not familiar with how processors/graphic processors work then you may want to skip this entry and just jump to the end. http://forums.gametrailers.com/showthread.php?t=45221There you have it spelled out in black and white. The PS3 isn't gonna "spank" the 360. Anyway, all you fanboys out there........SHUT THE HELL UP. I'm tired of your " is gonna kick ass!" It ain't gonna happen now.....so don't even try to pretend it will, you'll only be lying to yourself and that ain't healthy.
Oh yeah, I played a couple of rounds of Gears of War co-op with Adam, and some multiplayer with the guys from the store as well. Good times, I haven't had that much fun on Xbox Live since Battlefield 2 came out last year. If you got a 360, and you still haven't picked it up, RUN don't walk to your local GameStop and grab one today.
I'm running out of people to curb stomp.

Slowly getting there, the promised land of HD
So yeah, it's illegal to go see a movie with a lion in Baltimore, that's a shame. I'm trying to figure out if tigers are alright, but I'm not holding my breath. As far as I know it's not illegal to see movies at my apartment, so all lions, tigers, hell even bears can come over, oh my! Yeah, people are welcome too, especially since I picked up a new toy today. Mircosoft in there continue efforts to expand the Xbox 360 in the centerpiece of the living room released their mighty HD-DVD player yesterday and of course all the major titles that I want, I am always on my day off when they come out so I of course got it a day later, but it's definetly worth the wait. Right now I'm taking a very brief break from watching King Kong on HD-DVD to tell you what an incredible experience it is to watch something in High Defination. It is easy to dimiss the experience with a "Oh, how much better could it be?" well I could tell you but having no frame of reference you wouldn't be able to mentally recreate it in your mind, it's one of those things that has to be experienced, and it's, I know it's lame, but it's breathtaking, wow and just wow. For those of you who have a High Def TV, run don't walk, to your local electronics joint, and get an HD-DVD player and prepare to rock it out, because it's totally worth it. For those of you who have a high def, and have a 360 and don't want to shell out at $500, how does $200 sound? Sounds better right? How about a universal media remote for the 360 and King Kong on HD-DVD? Sounds a whole lot better right? So run over to your local electronics joint, or your friendly Herndon GameStop (end shameless plug for my store here) and get one today! This thing is mofo great, I'm jazzed. This thing is also able to upscale regular DVDs into high defination, and since I can barely tell the difference between upscaled and native, this works out perfect for me, cuz that way I won't have to rush out and rebuy all my movies. I'm gonna have to watch the Star Wars Anthology on this thing! Laterz all, gotta get back the the OTHER Peter Jackson masterpiece. *breaking news*
First and foremost, I want to give a huge shoutout to Stephen for ressurecting the PC I bought off of him. It's risen like a phoenix and I'm back to full working, net browsing, DVD burning capacity. I just gotta iron out some sound card ishs but other than that it feels damn amazing to be able to blog again, check email, all the little things I did feverishly on a regular basis that I took for granted. It was the apitimy of suck having the internet in the house, but not being used for it's primary purpose. Sure I had it hooked up to my Xbox 360 so I can roll with my hommies at work, but I wanted it so I can stay on top of things at work and such, now I'm back and I'll never take it all like it should have been there. April, May, June, July, August, September, October......7 months? Geezus, THAT was going back to the darkages. In other news, Gears of War is by far the most graphically intensive thing I've ever seen (PC or Console) since the Metal Gear Solid 4 trailers, and on that note, I have one thing to say: Sony is fucked. All the stuff they had at conference didn't even COMPARE to what Gears is doing right now on the 360. Like Doom 3 when it first came out, it had amazing graphics and GAMEPLAY to match. There is so much stuff going on screen when you're playing this thing it is unreal (hence where the engine gets it's namesake), and it runs like water....including this chapter I'm in right now where it's raining and the effects of the water going off the objects is insane. I thought Splinter Cell Chaos Theory (which was using a very early build of Unreal Engine 3) did a pheonominal job, this blows it away a tenfold. Enough geeky talk, the game rules. Control scheme is very similar to Resident Evil 4, so people will feel almost instantly at home with it. The gameplay is excellent, controls are tight, and the action pacing is perfect....on par with Halo 2 and Half-Life 2. It only slows down enough for you to catch your breath, and then throws you headfirst into another firefight. Oh yeah, and you CANNOT play this like Halo or any other run and gun game, you will die in oh like............0.000001 of a second, and this is one the "Easy" difficulty too. Take like, Call of Duty 2 on Veteran, this is the kind of hardcore 3rd person shooter this is. So far the game is flawless, I have no complaints, and so far it has everything I could ask out of it. I haven't touched the multiplayer yet, I want to finish the capaign first, but rest assured I want to do some major curb stomping and get some serious use out of the chainsaw bayonette. No Co-Op either, I promised Adam I'd do that with him, once Cox stops being gay and turns his internet back on. My chainsaw is at the ready, Adam! Just say the word! In other other news, work releated, the #3 guy (Bill Chinn), #4 gal (Margerite Garvey), and #5 gal were (Betty Shock) were supposed to be about and about all over the east coast touring stores in preperation for the upcoming holiday season, and as Bill says (since he is the Vice President of Stores after all) "This is the most important Christmas in our company's history" it's especially true with this first full year the 360 will be in full supply, the launch of the Nintendo Wii (heeeeeeeeeellz yes) and the Phoney Gaystation 3 (aka the really expensive DVD player). He was supposed to be in the area on Thursday and I decided to postpone my days off until he was cleared out of town, you know cuz I didn't want my peeps to be there alone should the trio show up, and amazingly enough the COO, CEO, and Prez green lighted him to use the company jet on this tour, so this is some hot button issues. Normally Bill just gets in a rental car from whatever airport he flies in and nobody hears from him until he leaves. So what happened? Turns out he went to New York area of the Northeast Division first......and never got beyond that. They were in even worse shape than the DC/Baltimore area stores. Not to say my store has gone to shit, it has seen better days, and it is most definetly frayed around the edges. We've had such a huge spike in business over the summer that we didn't have enough manpower to take it head on, and it's continuing. We only now just got enough payroll to take on one more person, Chris Yost (a friend of Adam) and now we're making slow headway. I'm terribly disappointed that Bill didn't get to finish his adjenda, but at the same time I'm glad he didn't make it to my place. I would have died of embarassment if he waltzed in and it looked the way it did. Sooo, he who fights and runs away gets to fight another day. Wooo, enough! I would go play some more Gears, but that's what I've been doing all day and I need to get at least some sleep before I go in tomorrow. With Gears being released and everything in full swing it's gonna be one heavy duty weekend. Laterz Current Mood: awakeCurrent Music: None | | Friday, November 3rd, 2006 | | 1:29 am |
Not even close to the update I promised....
Man at the rate I'm going it'll be two years in a row without a Conference play by play. I have only a few moments (as I am at dear mother's house) I found this video on YouTube that everyone at work was telling me about, it's MC Chris the living legend himself (aka MC Pee Pants from Aqua Teen Hunger Force) ranting on a certain game his friends recommended to him. Conference 2006: Game On!
Kat had gone to the Tokyo Game Show (lucky bitch!) and I yet again got the chance to go to the GameStop Manager's Conference and holy hell do I have things to talk about! Alas I need to get in front of a computer because the damn PSP doesn't have enough memory to fit the whole post. Stay tuned! This is the one journal post you can't afford to miss! Inventories and poorly maintained air conditioners: part 2
So around noon Wedesday they removed the dehumidifier and a carpet cleaner crew came and tackled the, well, carpet. Office of Redundency Office. The carpet is clean now thank god but the crew decided to undo all the cables to my entertainment center so no Xbox 360 till tomorrow cuz I'm lazy. Moving onto inventories, with the new computers at work we only have to do the twice a year now! My last two were so good the bigwigs at corporate deemed them so good that I won't have to do another one till January! Current Mood: awakeCurrent Music: more Rage | | 12:45 am |
Inventories and poorly maintained air conditioners: part 1
Let's start with the latter, my a/c unit was leaking water all over my apartment for the better half of two weeks. I didn't notice it right away because the a/c is kinda out of the way and the water was UNDER THE CARPET! Gross! It was time for the maintenace people to work on the unit and I was clearing a path of boxes and furniture for them and there were patches of mold under everything! AHH! For once it's not my fault. They brought in a huge dehumidifier and had it run since last week. Fun! Current Mood: blahCurrent Music: Bulls on Parade - Rage Against the Machine | | Friday, September 15th, 2006 | | 8:06 am |

Down, but most definetly not out
As Kat can tell you, I'm very much alive. My posts won't be long (like they ever have) but I should be back and here to stay this time around provided I can still afford/find wireless internet. My dearest brother bought me a PSP with my mother's help for my birthday so I could play the new Metal Gear games on it. He knows how to feed the addiction like no other. I found out after a while that there is a fully functional internet browers on it and that is how I'm chatting with you all again today. Just want everyone to know Kat, Heather, Adam, Sarah, Jim and all the rest of you that I miss you all like hell and I will do everything in my power to never let it happen again. Memorial Day Nerf Fight
I don't have much o say other than this is what it's like at the store since Stephen re-introduced us to Nerf Guns http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2006/01/04Big ol nerf fight again today after the store closed, and then it moved to Stephen house, and him rolling down the stairs in an over the top fashion. I've seen X3 and I've got one thing to say.......
I'm the Juggernaut bitch!!!! If you haven't see it already, you've done yourself a terrible injustice. Make sure you see it before you all go to see X3 otherwise you'll miss the best joke in the entire film. http://www.i-am-bored.com/bored_link.cfm?link_id=15862I'll tell you what it was quite a surprise to hear they casted Vinnie Jones at Juggy, but after seeing it tonight, I feel it was a grand idea. Let's back up to last week, after all I promised I would do so. So Sarah calls me up on Tuesday, the 16th for the "Oh I'm sorry I missed your birthday call" because she's busy as ish so I wasn't going to hold it against her. HOWEVER I would hold it against her for not knowing what day it was. I can't remember if it was either she thought it was the 17th, or she thought my birthday was the 15th. Fact of it was, she thought she had missed it altogether. "Uh....no silly, it's today!......*30 seconds of silence*......Uh......hello?' All I heard was hysterical laughter and "I'm sorry" for a hojillion times. This is what happens when you have entirely too much on your plate kids, SLOW DOWN and for goodness sake don't forget to breathe. So the plan was that she invited me out to a laser tag birthday shootout at the old Marching Vikings Friday night hidaway. Whenever there was an away game, it was Ultrazone laser tag. For home games it was what Lewis Black affectionatly calls "The Health Club". His health club is the International House of Pancakes. HA HA! Anyways, Sarah shows up ass early on Friday and said the surprise was in tow...not sure of what that meant I forced smalltalk as best I could and went about my work chores and what not. I turn up to say something else and low and behold it was none other than Mr. VanDyke himself. For a split second and a half I didn't know what to think, but then I thought, "water under the bridge" and it was all awesome again. Just like the three of us meeting each other again for the first time. So that was part one of the present. Dragging Bill up here from Norfolk for this evenings shootout. That was a big stretch for him considering he's been on the road the last couple of weeks for business (including stopping by the week before last saying hi and hello because he was in town on business). After a quick catchup on things we decided to meet at the Borders in Sterling at 8pm, grab food at some sitdown place (which we settled on Friday's) and then onto Ultrazone. I get out of work, pretty close to on time, 6ish pm, and if you ask ANY of the guys at work, I NEVER EVER get out of there remotely close to what I schedule myself to. So I get to Borders at 6:45 and decide to park waaaaaaaaaay up to the front of the lot so when they pull in they'll see my car. I recline my seat and take a nap. About 7:30 I get a call from Sarah inquiring my whereabouts. When I told her that I was out in the parking lot she was all confused. Turns out they've been inside Borders for a long ass while and they never saw me, so I went in ran out and Sarah presented me with part two of the birthday swag: a DeLorean.....okay okay it wasn't actually the car abut a 1:24 scale stainless steel model coming in the mail sometime really soon. She assured me that the doors actually do swing up on the model....needless to say I freaked. FRIGGIN AWESOME. Moving along to Friday's, it was steak and cheddar garlic mashed potatos and a lotta laughs. Heh heh, hey Sarah, forest fires. HA! I'm so dead. I made a string of jokes that most anyone could get and Bill got them and Sarah was all dazed out with "eeeh?" and I say "Did you know trees are the number cause of forest fires?" "Ehhh? Why's that?" "Cuz they're so dense, which you seem to be right now." and she STILL didn't get it. She even when as far as to call up her boyfriend Noel back in Minnesota to find out and once I she didn't she gave me what's for. Hell hath no wrath like a woman's scorn. Oww. Got to the 'Zone for the 6pm to 1am special. Got 4 rounds in. There were a couple of tards in there we had to weed out, they were just ruining it for everyone. They weren't necessarily better than us, but they were definetly cheating left and right vilolating conduct rules and good sportsmanship where thrown out the window. All we could do was "Vote to kick" after the game, har har. I got them a couple of times with a legit shot to the back and all I could think of was Sarge from Red vs Blue "Now I want you to run out there and shoot him in the back and watch him die.......just like John Wayne would." Huzzah. It was like a victory in and of itself. As the night wore on less small children were there and the tards were gone so we got some hard fought matches going on. It wasn't the best set of games I've played but it did give me a chance to test out a new way of holding the guns, all Metal Gear Solid style, wall popout shots and holding the gun to my eye and gauging it one inch up as a invisible crosshair. Worked out pretty freaking well! My accuracy was shot to shit though, took me two rounds to iron it out. Oh well, live and learn. All in all it was a grand game, the arena still exciting as always, and Heather if you still dig laser tag I'm almost certain with metaphyical clarity that you will love this place. LOTS of areas to go solo and pick them off! Go gettem tiger! Alright I've gotta get some sleep here. I didn't go to bed until 6am yesterday because I was up all night doing laundry, I think I got a grand total of maybe 4 hours. Doing a full day and see X3 and updating all the goings ons. TOO MUCH. Shazbot. The last thing I leave you is that there is a SERIOUS Nerf gun craze at the store, and I've caught the bug. We're gonna be having a nerf fight soon before too long, GameStop Fightclub style. Laterz! PEACE! Oh yeah, almost forgot....if you do see X3, stay after the credits, there's some more to be seen...and that's all I'm saying. Bye everyone!!! Laser Tag
Sarah invited me to a laser tag bonanza and with a surprise guest, she dragged Bill up from Norfolk. That was a big surprise, didn't expect to see him again so soon. I will go into more elaborate detail on the goings on tomorrow. I just want everyonee to know that it was freaking awesome to strap on the 'ol body armor, lock and load and kick some ass just like old times. Heather, you would LOVE this place. Yaaaaaaaaaaaay birthday time!!!
So this was by far the most laid back birthday ever. I woke up to my father wishing me well at about 10:30 forgetting completely that it was indeed the 16th of May. Dragged myself out of bed and played some Oblivion for a couple of hours. Ali and I then went on down to Sterling to track down affordable work clothes, which we were moderately sucessful in doing so, came back and listened to Don and Mike tell it like it is. Dropped him off and went back to mom's for the evening festivities. She had decided to take me to this new mexican restaurant nearby her complex that what she considered to be the best she had in the county of Loudoun, and believe me in recent days there's been a number of such establishments springing out around here. I must agree wholeheartily with here. WONDERFUL food, fried chimichangas with a metric ton of tender chicken inside. Afterwards we retreated back to her apartment to which it was time for cake and presents. After two heartwarming cards it was time for chocolate cake with raspberry perserves between the layers. Sooooooooooo good. Present time, she wasn't sure what to get me so she let Tony go crazy with her credit card so he got me with mom's help a PSP and Metal Gear ACID. THAT was a big friggin surprise. Did not see that coming at all. So now I've got another toy to play with and another Metal Gear game to get my fix in. Huzzah! Well time for bed and a little cake. Night all! I'm not dead yet!!!
Scary thing is I think it's been two full months since my last update, and believe me this wasn't intentional. Gosh no. The moving process was painful as can be and moving into the new place took all but 45 minutes and it's taking even longer to unpack than it did to pack. When I have the time and the money I will provide a FULL update of what went down over the last 61 days, and trust me it'll be an interesting read. I would do it all now but I'm some dude's laptop at Starbucks leeching off his T-Mobile account for all it's worth. Pretty awful, eh? The one thing that I can assure you all though is that I still have a great car, a roof over my head, gainful employment at GameStop and a kick ass staff. So at least I've got that going for me. If I could just get the new place under control and internet to stay in touch with all of you people again it would be great. I've got to jet for now, hopefully teh 'net will be up and running at the new place on Thursday. I know I was rambling and not having a coherent entry so don't spend too much time trying to read it. Time for shoutouts Sarah: Hope to see you soon when you get back in town. Kat: I hope all is well on the other side of the pond, hope school and your kids are well and everything else is well and awesome. Heather: I miss you like hell, when are you out of school, and when is graduation? I hope I haven't missed it. To everyone else; PEACE OUT MY HOMMIES!!! A major suprise......but still not the legendary update
I must give credit where credit is due, George found my soc card. Despite our differences, bucking of horns and all the stuff in between, I am ungodly greatful that he continued to search for it, and did find it. I know things have not been easy between us over the last few months, but I cannot thank you enough for finding it. That is all. Almost the legendary update.....but not quite
I would just like to say, that I am *this close* to having an apartment and this disaster ridden chapter of my life in Hamilton will be a thing of the past. The only thing I need now is my pay stubs for the last two months and my social security card. Well me being me, and being a dork I never keep my stubs, online banking lets me know faster if my money got to my account or not so I have no clue where they are. My soc card however I do.....well at least I did. It was kept under the watchful eye of my mother, and it was kept in a drawer in the new wing of the house. Well since the divorce it would be akward to go waltzing in there to retrieve it, so I called mother to verify that it was there. She said yes. I show up and the ass that George is and ever shall be, emptied EVERYTHING out of there, myself and my brother's birth certificates, soc cards, my mother's goddamn teachers license and put them in a box in the basement of my place. Of course when I need it most he can't find it. So now I get to go to Manassas and apply for another one, goodness knows what on how long that will take. With an unexpected inventory coming up on Sunday, I am in for some more fun times. The pay stub part will be easily fixed though, I'm just going to have HR fax the whole kajigger and at least that side will be taken care of. I'm pretty sure they're as anxious to have me move in as I am to leave this place behind for good. ......but I just had to throw this out there. This will be included in the legendary 5 page update, but I'm being forced out of where I am now. I've pretty much been unsuccessful in finding new housing all of Feburary. Tomorrow and Wedesday I am visiting two places that have EXTREME promise.
